MARRAKECH SIGHTSEEING TOUR

This day will be devoted to the sightseeing of Marrakech, the second oldest imperial city known as the “Pearl of the South” and home to the Saadian tombs, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace and the Menara Garden.

With a private guide, you will explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will see the souks and the world famous Djemaa El Fna which offers various entertainment such as storytellers, acrobats, snake-charmers and magicians.

The Jardin Majorelle is a two and a half acre botanical garden created by the artist for whom it is named. We return you to your hotel/riad for an overnight stay.

Ourika Valley day trip is not to be missed as a chance to see and experience the real life of the local Berbers. The unspoiled Ourika Valley is full of surprises such as Berber villages, rivers and waterfalls. You will also experience the beauty of the red High Atlas Mountains.

The region of Ourika Valley and Sitti Fatma is inhabited by Berber people who practice a traditional way of life. On this journey you will visit a Berber house to see how the real Berber people live as they prepare a nice Berber mint tea for you as a guest. You will spend this day enjoying one of the most beautiful and best preserved valleys in Morocco.

With plenty of amazing photo stops of waterfalls and rocky landscapes we will also stop to visit a local association where the Berber women work to produce the many products of argon oil. This highly coveted oil is used for its nutritional value as well as for cosmetic purposes. At the end of this adventurous day we head back to your hotel/riad in Marrakech.

AIT BENHADDOU • OUARZAZATE • KALAAT M'GOUNA

After breakfast, we begin our route through the spectacular High Atlas Mountain pass of Tizi n’Tichka. Many stops along the way are provided for coffee or tea and to enjoy the breathtaking, picturesque scenery. With elevations reaching 2260 meters high, the splendor of these majestic mountains is indeed a sight to behold. We arrive to Ait Benhaddou for lunch. This famous kasbah, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a striking example of the architecture of southern Morocco and was used as a backdrop for more than twenty films

In Ouarzazate we visit the Kasbah of Taourirt. This was originally the residence of the Pasha of Marrakech and a symbol of the feudal period of the lords of Atlas. We will stop at Kalaat M’Gouna, “The Rose City”. Don’t pass up this chance to purchase the rosewater for which the city was named. If you visit here in May, you may witness the Festival des Roses in full glory. We will arrive in Dades Valley, with its multi-colored walls reaching from 200-500 meters, in time for sunset. Treasure this spectacular moment before heading to your hotel/riad.

TODRA GORGES • ERFOUD •
ALLURE OF THE DESERT CAMEL TREK

Today spend time exploring the marvelous majesty of Todra Gorges. Carved out by the Todra and Dades rivers, this spectacular gorges is the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. There will be no shortage of photographic moments. When we arrive in Erfoud, we visit the marine deposit of fossils where these preserved remains are unearthed and traded or fabricated into products such as jewelry.

After a time for lunch, we continue to the dunes of Erg Chebbi where you prepare for the much anticipated camel trek into the pink sands of Morocco’s highest dunes. Savor your time wandering the dunes before the sun sets in a spectacular show of colors. A traditional Moroccan dinner is served, followed by a traditional music show of Berber instruments around a campfire. Bask in this desert night atmosphere as you take a look up at the sky. The Milky Way will be waiting for you in full glory. Count the shooting stars as you gaze in wonder before a peaceful night in a private nomadic tent. This truly is an oasis in the middle of the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.

MERZOUGA • HASSI LABIED • KHAMLIA • MERZOUGA VILLAGE

Be sure to wake up early this morning to watch what well may be the most striking sunrise of your life. Don’t fail to appreciate the unique beauty of these breathtaking dunes of Erg Chebbi as the changing light of day plays upon the sand.

After breakfast at your luxury camp, the continuation of your peek into desert life progresses as we visit the small, beautiful oasis of Hassi Labied sitting on the edge of the dunes. Admire the landscape of this grand desert as we take you to Khamlia. Famous for it Gnaoua music, a mix of classical Islamic and African Traditional, the nomad people of Khamlia will extend to you the hospitality of tea and music. Don’t pass up the chance to play with the band.

The desert is full of surprises so be prepared for anything. Your evening will conclude at your hotel/riad in Merzouga Village.

MERZOUGA • MIDELT • AZROU
• IFRANE • FES

Today as we leave this spectacular desert and head toward Fes through the beautiful Ziz Valley, we will make a stop in Midelt, the village of the apples, also known for its handicraft co-op and its importance as a mining center. This will be a perfect place to enjoy a lunch.

As we continue crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains, we make our way to the cedar forest of Azrou, home to Barbary Macaques. Don’t miss the opportunity to hand feed the monkeys as they playfully tease you with their antics.

Next we reach Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture. We affectionately refer to this town as the Switzerland of Morocco. When we reach Fes in the early evening, you can enjoy dinner and a night in your hotel/riad.

FES SIGHTSEEING TOUR

Following your breakfast, today will be devoted to the amazing sights of Fes. With your private guide, you will experience the oldest cultural and spiritual imperial city of Morocco, founded in 790 B.C. by Moulay Idriss II. An historic highlight will include the Medieval Medina which is one of the world’s largest walled cities and an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices and intricately woven Berber carpets, the narrow streets are yours to explore. Other points of interest include the Medersa (an Islamic teaching university), the El Qaraouiyyin Mosque which was founded in 859 by Fatima el Fihri, and the spectacular Nejjarine Fountain.

After some time to enjoy lunch we continue with a visit to the “Arabian House” to observe various craftsmen performing their work reminiscent of ancient practices. The Dar Batha Palace is now a museum of arts and traditions. Other places of interest include the Kings Palace, Bab Boujiloud and the Chouwara Tanneries. At the end of the day you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Fes.

FES • MEKNES • VOLUBILIS • CHEFCHAOUEN

After breakfast we depart to Meknes, “the Moroccan Versailles”, which was founded at the end of the 17th Century by Moulay Ismail. Highlights of the tour will include Bab Berdieyinne, Bab Mansour, Hari Souani, El Hedim Square and the Old Medina. The monumental gates dating from the 17th century are spectacular.

Some time will also be spent at the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. It’s then time to visit the Ancient Roman Ruins of Volubilis, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is here that we witness the artistic mosaics, marble and bronze statuary that have been unearthed and preserved. Your private guide will lead you through the life during the Roman Empire. We conclude our day with a drive to Chefchaouen where a fabulous hotel/riad awaits.

CHEFCHAOUEN SIGHTSEEING

Wake up in the enchanting mountain village of Chefchaouen which is famous for its vivid blue washed houses. Chefchaouen is popular for both tourists and Moroccans. You will notice that the Spanish culture is prevalent here.

Explore Chefchaouen, with it’s winding lanes and narrow alleys which are home to numerous souks. Discover offerings of cuisine and artisan works, such as woolen items, intricate embroidery and goats cheese; all native to the North and not found anywhere else in Morocco.

You will be given time to enjoy lunch during your day of sightseeing in this captivating town. The Ethnographic Museum of Chefchaouen displays regional costumes, musical instruments, folk art and pottery. Enjoy another night in Chefchaouen.
