Today will be devoted to the amazing sights of Fes. With your private guide, you will experience the oldest cultural and spiritual imperial city of Morocco, founded in 790 B.C by Moulay Idriss II. An historic highlight will include the medieval Medina which is one of the world’s largest walled cities and protected as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices and intricately woven Berber carpets, the narrow streets are yours to explore. Other points of interest include the Medersa (an Islamic teaching university), the Al Qaraouiyyin Mosque which was founded in 859 by Fatima el Fihri, and the spectacular Nejjarine Fountain.

After some time to enjoy lunch we continue with a visit to the “Arabian House” to observe various craftsmen performing their work reminiscent of ancient practices. At the end of the day you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Fes.

We affectionately refer to this town as the Switzerland of Morocco. This is a popular place to stop for interesting photos. Now we drive to the cedar forest of Azrou, home to Barbary Macaques. Don’t miss the opportunity to hand feed the monkeys as they playfully tease you with their antics. In Azrou you will observe the traditional souk and daily mountain Berber life.

As we pass through the Ziz Valley, keep in mind that this was part of a traditional caravan trading route between settlements of Northern Sahara. We will make stops to enjoy the views and take photos of this spectacular site. We end the day at your hotel/riad in Merzouga as you prepare for another fascinating day.

Enjoy this relaxing time as we prepare for an incredible afternoon. You will enjoy the much anticipated camel trek into the pink sands of Morocco’s highest dunes. Savor your time wandering the dunes before the sun sets in a spectacular show of colors.

A traditional Moroccan dinner is served, followed by a traditional music show of Berber instruments around a campfire. Bask in this desert night atmosphere as you take a look up at the sky. The Milky Way will be waiting for you in full glory. Count the shooting stars as you gaze in wonder before a peaceful night in a private nomadic tent.
